ChargePoint has built an enormous electrical empire since installing its first public charging station in 2009. The company now boasts over 20,000 charging spots in North America, and between 70 and 80 percent of all new plug-in vehicle buyers sign up for an account.

Now this champion of charging has set its sights on the home market with a new line of residential chargers called ChargePoint Home (Charged discussed the details with CEO Pasquale Romano in our January/February issue).

“ChargePoint Home delivers the same seamless charging experience ChargePoint users have come to count on at work and around town – and now it’s conveniently available in a driver’s own garage,” said Romano. “A Wi-Fi enabled, networked, EV charging station gives drivers freedom by allowing them to remotely start, schedule and set reminders for charging, all through their mobile app.”

ChargePoint Home is available as a 32-amp station that can restore up to 25 miles of Range Per Hour (RPH), or a 16-amp station that can deliver 12 RPH. It can be installed indoors or outdoors, and is available in plug-in and hardwired versions. Cords come in 12, 18, and 25 foot lengths.

ChargePoint Home will go on sale at Amazon later this summer, at prices ranging from $499 to $749.
